Registration is still open for the 2013 Cascade Writers Workshop (July 25-28), a 4-day event in scenic Portland, OR, specializing in science fiction and fantasy writing. Guest speakers include agent Cameron McClure, editor Claire Eddy, publisher Patrick Swenson, editor and author Jennifer Brozek, publicist Jaym Gates and authors including Ken Scholes, J.A. Pitts, Nisi Shawl, Spencer Ellsworth and more. (I am part of the more!)
The weekend includes lectures and panels with editors, agents, and professionals on topics ranging from manuscript basics to GLBT characters in literature. The workshop portion of the event provides Milford-style critique sessions with peers and professionals. One-on-one discussions with guest speakers and panelists will include agent pitch sessions for those interested.

I attended this workshop in 2008, 2009, and 2010, and then I skipped two years because of a prohibitive lack of money (2011) and Clarion West (2012). The event has grown in that time, which I find daunting but cool, and I’m honored to be invited as a speaker.
I have some really cool stuff to say, and I’m looking forward to exchanging resources with all the other writers there.
